We have been retained by a top-tier global automotive manufacturing organization headquartered in Southfield, Michigan, to recruit for the Director of Total Rewards role. 

 

This individual will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the company’s total rewards programs across North America.

 

  • Strategic and Leadership Opportunity – North America
  • Report directly to the Head of HR for the region.
  • Focus on developing executive compensation programs from the ground up.
  • Must have strong business acumen and experience in heavy industry manufacturing, with large-scale, multi-site operations.
  • Open to Relocation 

This role encompasses all aspects of compensation, benefits, and related programs (e.g., wellness, relocation). A key focus will be on building job architecture, executive compensation programs, including long-term incentive plans (LTIPs), while ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and manage compensation, benefits, and executive incentive programs aligned with company objectives.
  • Oversee workforce planning, job architecture, and internal mobility strategies.
  • Develop and maintain salary structures, bonus programs, and employee benefits such as health insurance, retirement plans, and wellness initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and industry standards while staying updated on trends.
  • Leverage analytics to optimize rewards programs and measure their effectiveness.
  • Drive continuous improvement and foster a pay-for-performance culture.
  • Collaborate with HR, Finance, and leadership teams to align programs with broader business goals.
  • Lead and develop a team of Total Rewards Associates, fostering growth and operational excellence.

 

For this role, you must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 15+ years in Total Rewards with proven expertise in executive compensation and LTIPs.
  • 5+ years in leadership roles with strong team development skills.
  • Advanced data analysis capabilities and project management experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of compensation and benefits regulations.
  • Strategic thinker with excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

 

Compensation:

  • Base Salary: $220,000 - $240,000
  • Bonus: Performance-based bonus
  • Long-Term Incentives (LTIPs): Included
  • Benefits: Comprehensive package
  • Total Compensation (TC): $300,000 - $325,000
