Our client is a prominent absolute return/hedge fund manager, handling assets for a diverse range of institutional investors worldwide, including pension funds, endowments, insurance companies, government agencies, private banks, and funds of funds.

Founded in the early 2000s, our client launched its flagship global macro strategy shortly thereafter. They focus on discretionary directional and relative value trading in fixed income, FX markets, and equities. In recent years, they expanded into crypto and digital asset strategies with a dedicated division. 

Employing a significant number of personnel globally, including a substantial team of investment professionals, our client leverages their international presence to identify and secure attractive investment opportunities and top-tier talent. They have been honoured with several industry awards for excellence in risk management, operational robustness, and investment performance.

Their main operational hubs are located in key financial centres around the world.

 

Role and Key Responsibilities

Our client is offering an exciting opportunity for a seasoned HR Operations Manager to join their team. Reporting to the Head of HR Services, the HR Operations Manager will lead and mentor the broader team, ensuring the delivery of efficient, effective, and professional operational HR services. This role also includes optimising HR processes and systems and collaborating closely with HR and Finance teams to ensure the effective use of Workday.

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead initiatives that support both the HR Operations Roadmap and wider HR objectives.
  • Drive HR process improvements, including managing project documentation and plans:
    • Implement and continuously refine processes to enhance efficiency and scalability.
    • Promote standardisation, simplification, and automation of processes and transactions.
  • Support the HR Operations Director in training and mentoring both new and current HR Operations team members.
  • Manage daily HR queries in line with SLAs, escalating when necessary and ensuring SLAs are met with the highest customer service standards. Act as the triage manager for assigning HR queries and escalating as needed.
  • Provide first and second-level support to the global workforce for process and technical support of Workday HCM.
  • Collaborate with HR teams and relevant business stakeholders to constantly assess and update supported processes, ensuring optimisation, effectiveness, and overall compliance. Make recommendations based on reviews and lead the implementation of changes.
  • Facilitate enterprise-wide standardised people reporting, partnering with HR IS and HR Data Analytics for more complex requests.
  • Conduct testing for system fixes and enhancements, and coordinate testing with internal and external teams as needed.
  • Validate expected outcomes and conduct regression testing, providing recommendations for production implementation.
  • Ensure internal documentation, guidelines, and operating procedures are regularly updated.
  • Act as a contact point for data integrity reviews and audits, ensuring the accuracy and compliance of transactional data in Workday.
  • Manage mass changes in Workday, including reorganisations and cyclical events.
  • Create, maintain, and update procedural documentation, FAQs, tip sheets, and guides for HR system and process navigation and troubleshooting.
  • Perform additional, ad-hoc duties as required to meet business needs.

 

Requirements

  • Demonstrable experience in a managerial and player-coach role within People/HR Operations, preferably in a shared services environment.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with colleagues in a complex and matrixed setting, gaining their trust and cooperation.
  • Strong customer service orientation, consistently considering perspectives from the customer’s point of view.
  • Excellent process, data, and systems orientation, with meticulous attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Capability to ensure compliance with company policies and statutory requirements.
  • In-depth understanding of HR transactional services, including onboarding and offboarding processes.
  • Flexibility with the ability to manage and prioritise tasks as needed.
  • Competence in working within a fast-paced and dynamic team environment.
