After two years of successfully supporting Elliott Scott HR’s US clients and mid-senior level HR professionals from India and the UK, finally being on the ground in New York was great. It was inspiring working from Wall Street, being around the New York Stock Exchange andmeeting some of our financial services and professional services clients across New York City, from Midtown Manhattan to the World Trade Center.

The Big Apple was everything I’d imagined –it’s vibrant, it’s relentless, and it truly never sleeps.  I felt an immediate sense of awe seeing the skyline for the first time. The city seen in movies and shows, right in front of me. Stepping into New York’s energy was like stepping into a dream.

One of the biggest highlights was the breakfast event we organized in partnership with Cappfinity, themed “Transforming Your Organization Through a Skills Mindset.” It was an impactful session, that really emphasized how skills development and organizational agility are at the forefront of business transformations.

What stood out in these discussions was how many companies are prioritizing transformation, focusing on organizational structure, workforce upskilling, and innovative approaches to talent development.

I also found myself navigating the legendary New York subway, which was an adventure in itself! Let’s just say that figuring out which way is uptown and which way is downtown isn’t as easy as it seems. But hey, I survived and managed to not get lost.

And of course, the food. From Joe’s Pizza to Chinatown’s ramen, tacos, and burgers, every meal was a win – Sorry London, but NYC might just have the upper hand.

On a personal note, It was good to spend a weekend there. New York’s energy and iconic landmarks truly lived up to the hype. From wandering through Central Park and marveling at the charm of Grand Central to taking in the breathtaking views at the Top of the Rock, every moment felt special. Rooftop evenings were a highlight, with sweeping cityscapes, spicy cocktails, and a vibrant atmosphere that’s hard to beat.

One of my favorite moments was catching the sunset near the Brooklyn Bridge after a cruise to Liberty Island. The weather was perfect, giving me the chance to soak in New York’s unique vibe from both land and water.

Thank you to everyone who made this trip possible and memorable Stuart Elliott, Emily Ramji, and Rosh Jayawardena. A big shoutout to Rosh, for being an incredible host, sharing some of New York’s best-kept secrets, from rooftop bars to hidden speakeasies. New York, you’ve set the bar high and am excited to be back and continue growing the momentum we’ve built.
